As Urchin sets off from the volcanic St Helena Island on the 5000nm adventure across the ocean. If anyone would was to prove their seamanship ability than this would be the trip to do it on. It is guaranteed that those that undertake such a trip will returned changed into a sailor with vast experience and competence to tackle any adventure going forward. Mile stone on the journey would include crossing the Greenwich Meridiun and crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Guests can expect to get a vast array of sailing conditions as the weather changes from tropical to cold, seas from glassy seas to 30ft waves, and winds from calm in the dolrams to consitant trade winds and then again to fierce squall.
Guests arrive to board Urchin. Together Guests stamp passports for permission to depart. Guest to be given a saftey talk and get aquainted with vessel layout. Vessel departs.
Vessel sails past many mile stones including crossing the equator and sailing from the South Atlantic ocean to the North Atlantic. Urchin will pass many iconic islands such as Ascension Island.
Urchin is required to stop at the closest port of entry upon entering the US in order to process visas. Vessel will likely be boarded by immigration and documents inspected. Urchin once processed by immigration will look to dock at a marina in Rockland, Maine where guests will disembark.

St. Helena Island highlights include Napoleon’s Tomb and Longwood House, the former residence of Napoleon, Diana’s Peak National Park, and Jacob’s Ladder, a steep staircase with 699 steps leading up to Ladder Hill Fort. Visitiors can expect incredible wild-life sightings such as the St Helen Plover and some of the largest whale-shark sighting grounds in the world.

Maine is the easternmost state in the United States, renowned for its rugged coastline, scenic beauty, and abundant seafood. Along with its natural beauty, Maine is also famous for its rich history, which is reflected in its architecture, museums, and landmarks. The state is home to Acadia National Park, which offers some of the most stunning vistas on the East Coast, as well as numerous other state parks and nature reserves. In addition to its natural and cultural attractions, Maine is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and more.
The 5000nm journey will take around 5 weeks to complete with Urchin expected to average around 150nm each day. The journey will offer guests the opertunity to constantly manage the vessel which includes deciding on a route, sail plan for the variable wind conditions, as well as being involved in watch keeping duties.
This experience is geared towards those who wish to gain sailing experience. Therefore much of the experience will revolve around learning sailing seamanship skills and sailing competence. However there will be incredible opportunity for fishing, diving, and guided tours.
Packing for a sailing trip means prioritizing clothing that is functional to pack as light as possible as there is not much space on a vessel. Aim to stay warm by layering clothing and bring sun protection. An important consideration is any medicine that you may need may have to be ordered in bulk to last the voyage.
